The creativist is at it again.

This time the medium is light, glass and electricity. My wife and I have recently moved into a blessed home, bless in function and affordability, cursed in color and style. We plan to fix this problem, with paint, mostly, and furniture and especially individualized lighting and decorative items. I will admit that these ideas are hardly original, but I will admit that these objects are.

It all started when we finally landed on a "theme" for the house and ever since then it has been a constant eruption of ideas and collecting of necessary items to incorporate into what is becoming our home. The style has been more recently pinned down as "Country-Contemporary-Distressed-Eclectic-Steampunk-Rustic-IDK." I am sure it will be narrowed and expand on an irregular basis for the next ohhh 20 years, but that is what we are headed for. And these lights are an example of what we plan to do to individualize the basic and cheap nature of this gigantic canvass that I have been blessed with. Be expecting more updates as ideas and creations emerge and come to life in the hands of the Creativist.

A place for food friends and fun (and Art).

Porters (http://www.porterstrainstation.com/) is a place that my wife and I have been going to for "fancy dates" for over three years now. The staff are always kind and the food is the best in medford. They will be celebrating 10 years in business this year and I want to celebrate with them. This project has been a challenging and fun process: collecting the "letters" and assembling/attaching them to the canvas, was quite a journey. In keeping with the theme of assemblage and rustic/vintage items, this piece incorporates a style that was expressed/discovered for the previous art show at Porters. This piece is more literal and tangible than the previous, but it has the core elements of metal, light, distressed objects and assemblage.

This is an idea that I have been working on for approximately 10 years now. The idea springs from Psalm 91:10 Hate evil and hold onto what is good. I have worked with a variety of media and personally enjoy working with bleach and cotton mixes the best. This is a sample of some of the shirts that I still have at this time. I chose to put the two words together because of the dichotic dissonance that it creates, and it looks cool. Kind of like " I don't dislike broccoli" HATE + EVIL = HATEVIL. So take a look and if you like what you see or you have a great idea of your own to make into a shirt, then let me know and I would be honored to make one for you. "Divine Revelation"

In regards to my “Works of the Spirit” series the piece above is currently the Masterpiece of the collection. With a massive 4’x4’ scale and being multimedia this work demands attention.
While producing it I found that my personal relationship with God was taken to a profoundly deeper level. I also discovered that my ability to express in the physical, what I see/feel in the spiritual realm had been sharpened and more accurately captured in this 2D format.

"Divine Momentum"

The work below was one of the first of its kind started in the Summer of 2009. While the background was created using acrylic paint, the foreground is complied of multiple layers of oil pastels. This multimedia layering effect creates a depth and texture to these works that further captures the movement of the spirit.

This piece continues towards a new direction; using mixed media and intricate linear movements to complete a move of the Spirit.

Reflections of Tomorrow

Reflections of Tomorrow: A journey through some of the works of my recent past, and therefore a glance at where I'm headed. The image below for instance is debatably my first painting, from third grade and of course it is dedicated to my MOM! Many of the line making tecniques and use of color are still evident in my paintings today. There is a thread that connects decades (wow decades) of work together. I have yet to discover what that thread is specifically, other than something deep in my spirit that cannot be transferred effectively into words or perhaps it is the creativist in me erupting.

For this post I have selected a few different groupings of my work. Some of images are from my beginnings and some from last week but all have an influence on the path I tread.

Group One: Sporadic, Free-form, "writing in tongues", Gibberish, letting my hand say what my heart is feeling without my mind getting in the way. It all started around age 13 when I had a major shift in my life and spirit.





Group Two: The body, female, male, young, old, tall, short, skinny, not-so-skinny; what ever it is I am thankful I have one and fascinated with the variety and individuality that there is in our world/country/city/neighborhood. Basically I am a "people watcher" and I love to dissect what makes us all so beautifully unique.




Group 3: Give me a lump of clay and this is what I'll do, I'll make a this or a that, maybe one or maybe two. Ok enough Dr. Seuss! Below you have a few examples of how my mind works in 3-D and as you can see that the threads are being stitched together. For instance: seemingly random mark making, human form, emotion and anything unique.

Group Quattro: This group has been created and developed more recently but it represents a way of seeing that I have had for a number of years. These images are often taken with my camera phone (1.3 megapixel) and are achieved by finding a unique color scheme and then just moving the lens rapidly to create these light trails. I have never taken any mind altering drugs because art was always my drug of choice, these images are proof of it.
